“Who’s that? Over there. Who are they?” “There’s no-one.” “It’s just your imagination.” “It’s ghosts, Marion. Ghosts.“
Boisil Night is a two-act drama set in the present day in the Scottish Borders.
Inhabitants of a small village gather in the community hall as the nearby river overflows its banks. The caretaker has gone, leaving the hall in the hands of a stranger.
In the first act personalities and conflicts emerge over relationships, gender identity and a planned housing development. The second act shifts backwards and forwards in time as each character’s life is laid bare and the stranger’s identity is finally revealed.
